something "different"...
I started with a simple image and the lyrics grew from there, becoming more and more cryptic. Once I had the majority of the words and the concept for what it all is supposed to mean I ventured forth with the song structure; wanting a simple, sweet intro that became dark. I found the perfect drum pattern - quasi military with toms, before strumming in a major key for the chorus (Hope, perhaps???). The final touch was adding the sax - haunting riff that becomes a 2nd theme throughout... it's kind of amazing what you can come up with when you turn your subconscious loose!
Dusty trinkets line the wall
memories of before the fall
souvineers of a path once traveled
we pulled a thread and watched it all unravel
the skyline glistens behind the glass
all our promises are in the past
glistening snow like a powdered wig
hiding all we've ever been
turn this world upside down
the snow keeps falling like ash
eternal winter captured in glass
moments lost in time
turn this world upside down
shake it hard, turn it all around
a frozen frieze of Sampson bound
a moment lost in time
